Kinkaku-ji is a classic tourist destination in Kyoto. Almost all tourists who visit Kyoto stop by here.The Kinkaku(reliquary hall) seen over Kyoko-chi Pond is set against the backdrop of Mt. Kinugasa. This angle makes the Kinkaku look its best.
The Kinkaku is nice, but the Sekkatei Tearoom, which sits on a small hill overlooking the Kinkaku, is also very atmospheric.
Kinkaku-ji Temple is located away from the city center and there is no train station nearby. As many people visit by city bus, the bus stop is always crowded.
