I like this family-run local diner and often stop by when I am out and about on Teramachi Dori Street. This diner, Tokiwa, was established in 1878, so it has a history of almost 150 years.
This diner mainly serves set menus. Today, I chose the Washoku Teishoku (Japanese Meal Set). The main dish consists of grilled salmon, thick-baked egg, tofu, seaweed, vinegared cucumber, soba noodles, and rice. The rice comes with furikake and nori.
The price is 850 yen for this contents. How does that sound? Isn’t it cheap?
The restaurant has only table seating. It is a little cramped, but it is a diner that retains the atmosphere of the old days.I like the taste of the food, which is just like my mother’s cooking.
Recently, foreign tourists seem to be coming here, so they have prepared an English menu.
