Kitano-tenmangu Shrine, located in the northwestern part of Kyoto City, is a little inconvenient to get to. However, it is a popular destination for many visitors.
From January to February, students preparing for entrance exams come to pray for success. In early spring, the Japanese apricot blossoms, and in autumn the maple leaves are at their best. If you visit outside of these seasons, you can enjoy a quiet and peaceful shrine.

On the 25th of every month, a market called Tenjin-ichi (commonly known as Tenjin-san) is held in the precincts of the shrine. If you exit the east gate of the shrine, you will find yourself in Kamishichiken, one of the Geisha districts. This shrine has a long history and a dignified atmosphere. We hope you will visit.

Incidentally, Randen Kitano-hakubaicho Station is a five-minute walk from the shrine. If you take this train, you can go to Arashiyama.
