Higashi Hongan-ji Temple is located about a 5-minute walk north along Karasuma-dori Street from JR Kyoto Station.The large wooden main gate(sanmon), the Goei-do Gate, facing Karasuma-dori Street serves as a landmark.Passing through this main gate, you’ll find two large buildings within the temple grounds, both impressive wooden structures.

Oh yes, after visiting Higashi Hongan-ji Temple, don’t forget to visit Shosei-en Garden, an enclave within the temple grounds.Exit through the main gate, cross the intersection straight ahead, and walk east along the Shomen-dori Street for about 5 minutes to arrive.
