This Ichihime-jinja Shrine is located about a 15-minute walk from JR Kyoto Station.The temple grounds are small, and since an apartment building stands above them, the location is hard to find.However, many female visitors come here.
Ichihime-jinja Shrine is revered as a guardian deity for women and is said to grant blessings for all women’s wishes.Particularly as a deity for women’s misfortune removal, female worshippers seeking protection from misfortune visit continuously from all over Japan.


Deep within the shrine grounds lies a small well called Ame-no-Manai, where sacred water springs forth.Above this well, small red daruma-shaped dolls are densely packed and lined up. These are doll-shaped Omikuji called Hime-mikuji.The Omikuji fortune slips are inside the dolls. People write their wishes on the dolls, place them on the sacred water, and offer them. Some people take the dolls home and treasure them.


Starting from Higashi Hongan-ji Temple, stopping by this shrine after visiting Shosei-en Garden, then crossing east on Kawaramachi-dori Street and heading north along the Takase-gawa River to Shijo-dori Street.this walking route lets you enjoy a relaxing Kyoto.
