Walking around Imai-cho, which retains the style of the Edo period (Kashihara)

Nara

In Imai-cho, I took a trip back in time to the Edo period(1603-1868).
As it is a preserved area, the style of the Edo period remains intact.

Originally, it was a temple town built around Shonen-ji Temple in the mid-16th century. This settlement is an autonomous city surrounded by moats and walls.
This street and veranda seemed familiar, and sure enough, it was the location for a TV commercial.

There are also houses designated as Important Cultural Properties scattered throughout, making it a great place to enjoy a stroll.

From Kyoto Station, it takes about 65 minutes by express train on the Kintetsu Kyoto Line via Yamato-Saidaiji Station to Yagi-Nishiguchi Station. From Yagi-Nishiguchi Station, it is about a 5-minute walk.
